Since I needed a break from other things that were driving me mad, I
decided to go ahead and download 1.64 and see if installation would be
up and going today.

Well ... yes, and NO

Since I'm connected via cable modem [LAN] with a fixed IP, I figured it
should be pretty darn simple to be up and running in no time.

Setup Wizards led me to think that. But they misled me.

After "installation complete" [connect & mail, no trip to options pages]
Arachne attempted to reach the home page.

That was a no-go. Arachne couldn't even find DNS, although I have two
name server addresses listed in the tcp/ip setup and those addresses
were, indeed, in the in the arachne.cfg file.

LANTCP.cfg was also present in the new setup, but really isn't needed
much when the proper data is in arachne.cfg

I tried to compare working to non-working arachne.cfg and couldn't see
any *meaningful* differences [my working arachne.cfg has all the stuff
for dial ppp cleaned out of it]. I simply don't have THAT much time,
but I did a line-by-line comparison and couldn't find anything that
should be preventing the new installation reaching DNS and getting to
Arachne home page. But it wouldn't do it.

So I copied over my person acf to replace Arachne.cfg that Wizards had
created, and I was up and running.

But since I don't know what th eproblem was, I don't want to install
over my existing fully functional setup.

Can Michael, or someone else, tell me which files in 1.64 are true
upgrades and not just newer dates from 1.61 ??

Then I can backup and copy over just those files to working setup of
Arachne.
