I think I figured out what went wrong with the install on my system.
Arachne used that new detector to determine that I have a "class 0"
supermachine, and it selected FASTPC.cfg as the basis for the install.
Then when I went to LAN wizard, it didn't pull up the LAN.acf ... it
stuck with the fastpc.acf already there. And I ended up with incomplete
dialing/PPP instructions in the cfg file rather than just the tcp/ip
stuff that belonged there. The fact that the dial stuff is before the
tcp/ip may be what threw the cfg for a loop?
What I did was compare dates and sizes, and back-up on my operating
installation all files I would be importing new from the 1.64 release.
Thus I have the new, much bigger, miniterm I'll seldom use unless the
cable gets cut and the new core.exe and a few new files of other types.
Some of the ikons were apparently changed, so I need to compare those to
see if I want to stick with old or use new.
What I have noticed is something which really upset me from 1.50 s.r.c.
is now missing. It used to seem like it took forever to delete/trash a
file. Now when I click on "trash" the next message is written to screen
almost immediately! And I've found that SMTP is also faster -- so much
faster that a couple of times I've checked the SMTP.log file to make
certain the message was actually sent. <G>
btw, because of the problem with the arachne.cfg file created during
install -- and I looked to see if I could figure it out, and the dial-in
stuff was the only real difference I could find -- I am using the
arachne.cfg [actually 3 different acf files] from ver 1.61
l.d.
