Hmmm.. Do I see a paralell?

XCOPY processes files by reading "en masse" as many as will fit into 
the the available memory. If that space shrinks, XCOPY's performance
will drop.

I notice that if free conventional memory falls below 600k, *for me*,
Arachne's performance suffers.
I notice that if space on the RAMdisk falls below 1.5MB, look out.

Remember all those display problems I had while trying to use 16 colors
with a superior video card? I have found that they can be quite easily
reproduced by lowering the free conventional memory. In other words A16x
was using *more* memory then. 
Even simple tasks such as sending an e-mail with 500-700k free on the RD
can give the impression that the system has frozen.

And so, I don't think I will ever see much improvement in my
installation untill I get that extra 16MB RAM!
