Subject: COM4 confusion

I am rewriting setup screens, CORE.EXE, MINITERM.EXE and WIZARD.EXE to
be able to use new "Port 0" standard, where Base and Irq from ARACHNE.CFG
overrides any all settings. This one was easy - I am just online with
"Port 0".

But I am starting to be confused, what is really _standard_ COM4 to be
defined like. Clarence says it is Irq 5/0x3f8, while the library I am
using insists it is Irq 3/0x2f8; old version of Arachne was completely
wrong, expecting that COM3 is Irq 5/0x2e8 (which explains why so many
COM4 users were experiencing problems....).

Currently, I defined COM4 to be Irq 5/0x3f8, as Clarence Verge
suggested... but I am not sure if this is really the most prefered
value. I will have to treat COM4 with non-standard parameters in
MINITERM, because of that...

Well Michael, I appreciate that you are trying to use my suggestions, but
that is NOT what I said at all.

I Quote my mail here:

Information from my USRobotics manual.

End myquote.

As you can see, *I* didn't suggest IRQ 5 OR 3f8, YOU did. <G>

To be perfectly clear:
Use
COM4 Irq 3 Base 0x2e8

p.s.
I'm confused about the email address. Since my server (may) be screwed, I'm
replying to both. What is [EMAIL PROTECTED] ?
