My modem is on COM4 (base 0x2e8) IRQ 5, that worked with Compuserve, and works
with OS/2 Warp 4, Linux and DOS using DOSPPPD 0.6 (EPPPD & CHAT, or NETDIAL &
EPPPD). MS-DOS 6.22 and DR-DOS 7.03 don't recognize COM4 but do recognize
0x2e8. OS/2 Warp 4 VDM recognizes COM4, probably because of a line in
CONFIG.SYS necessary to recognize a modem anywhere other than COM1 or COM2.

I was unsuccessful setting up with Arachne's wizards, but I find the outside
dialer preferable because that allows me to run other DOS Internet programs, and
I can exit Arachne without hanging up.

Since I haven't got around to installing Arachne 1.64, I guess I'll wait for
1.65. I will go with DOS Lynx386, download Arachne 1.65, also download desired
APMs to \ASAVE\APM directory. That way, I won't have to redownload APMs with
each new Arachne release, and I can browse my \ASAVE\APM directory from Arachne
and install that way.
