Ron,
I archived your letter about Inbox's reliance upon it's *.idx file.
In my usual fashion, after looking through the day's posts, I shut A164
down and fired up Volkov to edit, rename and move the tasty parts.
When all this is done, the IDX file no longer truly records the
contents of the directory, so I delete it. By the time I am done with
Volkov, my mail folders are completely empty.
This seems to have no ill effect upon A164's performance. The deleted
files are automatically rewritten as needed.
I wonder if those stand-alone "mail-readers" that I hear about correct
these files as messages are moved?
Anyway, since Arachne seems to work fine with *absent* IDX, TBS, SNT,
&c., &c. files, then incorrect paths to those files should not be a
problem.
I wonder what happens when the entire mail directory is misplaced?
"The requested page could not be found"?
There must be some details of your situation that I am missing. Can
you give me more info?
