Hi All! Well, so far Arachne 1.65 has done pretty well, except (always an exception) for a couple of problem sites, might be related to the fonts use in 1.65 compared to 1.62...1.65 sometimes displays a zero with an eyebrow on sites with small choice menu links, 1.62 displays only the normal underlined links. Also, some images are no longer recognized, most notably for me is the Weather.com Weather Magnet I have on my web page at http://mshhomepages.talkcity.com/RightWay/wizard57m/index.html...get the old red box display, 1.62 correctly show the image, which is nothing more than a GIF file generated by www.weather.com and posted to my site. The other problem has been hashed and rehashed, that one is the F8, kill cache function. In my experience, this worked much better when it was handled internally by CORE.EXE, rather than a seperate DGI batch file. Overall, speed seems to have improved, especially on cached pages, but sometimes a large web page seems to take longer to download than with A 1.62. I also got caught in a loop at ZDNet, in the TalkBack section reading other readers comments...1.65 cycled through endless repetitions of d/l image, verifying image, cookie etc. but never displayed the full page. A 1.62 did not exhibit this behaviour. Looking forward to 1.66!!
