Lo,Eric ...

The vacation was OK ... part "shake down cruise" [need to modify tent],
and part pure do whatever I darn well pleased. <G>

The reason my profound thoughts were changed from utterance to text: I
saw a bit of antagonism and testosterone being sprayed in the posts, and
felt it was time to remind everyone that -- although we are each unique
and have different desires -- our MEGA goal is survival.

That survival is on the planet's surface, within the ambient society
where we find ourselves, and amid technology that is doing its best to
over-reach anything considered reasonable bounds.

And since certain things are integral to survival, I felt it would be
appropriate to point out one factor that already affected, or soon would
affect, everyone on this list -- everyone on the internet.

Schisms and petty bickering usually get put aside when we're reminded
that we're all in the same boat and, if we don't work together to bail
and paddle, no one is gonna make it.

And the surest way to destroy *good* things we have is to bad mouth it
or just plain fail to remember how great it is that we found it and can
use it and benefit from it. Any day you have a hole in the tent and it
doesn't rain -- that's a day to be thankful the sun is shining.
 :)
