>I can use Arachne InSight and other DOS-based email clients to access my
free email accounts at http://www.subdimension.com and at
http://www.telebot.com. With Arachne InSight and also with other various
DOS email clients, I can both send and receive email through these accounts.
These web-sites claim that they require "authenticated SMTP", whatever that
is. Would these just be false claims?

Sam,
Are you sure you're using Insight or other email client and not the WWW
interface? What other DOS-based email clients do you use? WWW-based email
bypasses SMTP completely.
By the way, does the References: line have any effect?
By the way (again), I have successfully DISKCOPYed 720 KB diskettes with 1.44 MB
drive, and have successfully DISKCOPYed 360 KB diskettes with 1.2 MB drive. If
you have drive A = 1.2 MB and B = 1.44 MB, you can format lower-capacity
diskettes by
FORMAT A: /4 or FORMAT A: /f:360
FORMAT B: /f:720
In Linux/Unix, you can use dd to copy diskette image to a file on the hard drive
and copy that image back to another diskette.
