> How can one tell what type of drive one has? I just reconfig'd a 1.2MB
to 360K and installed MS-DOS 4.01 sucessfully on an old 286. (it was the
only OS available <g>)
I assume the track width is determined by the head construction; but

A 360K drive rotates at 300 rpm; a 1.2MB drive rotates at 360 rpm.
Hope that helps <G>.
As far as the disks, themselves, go, *most* (not all) 360K floppies have a
reinforcing ring around the spindle hole; 1.2MB floppies do not.
