I'm sorry, but I don't think any type of web page based message system would be as functional as the list. We can scan and delete if we like right now; and there *are* options to downloading all the mail before scanning. A number of sites for e-mail which are Arachne friendly have been mentioned; I've provided -- a couple of times -- a web-based site that is both Arachne friendly and provides mail management of the actual e-mail on your ISP's server. http://www.mailstart.com If time on line is the defining factor, then I don't know of any instance where screening the mail by source and subject would be quicker on-line than just downloading the mail and scanning off-line. Finally, the problem -- all too often -- with scanning by subject line is that many times [most??] the topic of the posts will have nothing to do with what is in the subject line. <G> And scanning by topic alone could also [with InSight and other e-mail programs I've used] result in accidental deletion of a personally addressed e-mail because it is thought to be list e-mail. For that there *are* work-arounds that can be done at the majordomo level, but even that doesn't guarantee you won't miss a private message generated in response to a list message. l.d. ==== On Tue, 08 Aug 2000 16:59:41 -0500, "Pete" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > I have tossed this up on AVA, and would like input from other users > of the list... > For myself (and others?) the list is a big message board.
