I think you are right about Pegasus and UNIX mail format. ReRead is a
good program. I have it and Dave Colston's NetMail Pro on an old XT
portable so I can do mail with it if needed. ReRead is pretty good.
Heimo Clausen is on the SurvPC list and I am sure he would be glad to
answer your question vis a vis Unix mail. The program I was trying to
think of in my earlier post is ReadMail. It has been a while since I
messed with it and it has the ability to define the mail format in
the configuration and theoretically it could read any format if you
understand it and can configure ReadMail for it. PCPine is IIRC
strictly or mainly for online reading/writing with an IMAP mail
server.

What specific problem are you having? Arachne should be able to
download it properly, though I am not sure if MIME.CFG defines what
Arachne is to do with it, i.e. save to disk, play it, run it, etc.

If you can get to the site and click the link to download, Arachne
should be able to do it. One thing that confused me is that sometimes
when you download a file your screen fills with the printable
characters in the file and then when the download is finished (as
indicated by the status bar at the bottom of the screen) you're left
with this screen full of characters. If this is what you are seeing
then hit <F2 > and you'll get a couple of action boxes with one of
them being to save the file. Make sure the path and filename are
where and what you want to save the file as and click on the SAVE
button.

Why don't you post your autoexec.bat and config.sys file to the list
and see if we can't improve your memory situation.

If you configure Arachne to leave your mail on your server (that
option is in the mail setup page) and you won't have to worry about
messing up your online world. You might want to make sure that your
ISP will let you keep your mail on the server after a POP3 download
since I have read that some POP server setup will not allow that.

I don't blame you for wanting to keep that convenience. Good shell
accounts are sometimes difficult to find. Does your ISP keep the
programs you use on their server up to date (i.e. Lynx)?

Well you could install it in your Arachne mail download directory, but
it would be better to install Pegasus in another directory, preferably
one just for it, then when you configure Pegasus you tell it where to
look for your mail (i.e. c:\arachne\mail or whatever) and Pegasus
will happily find your mail, install it's "folders" there, and create
your outgoing mail in the directory for Arachne to upload.
