Saw this on the FreeDOS page - apparently there is a Java implementation
for DOS at Transvirtual Technologies.
>From their website at
" Transvirtual Technologies offers the first truly "run anywhere" Java
Technology implementation. Our Java Virtual Machine, Kaffe, runs on
virtually any Internet appliance or embedded system. Kaffe is the only
JVM that can run both Sun and Microsoft Java (including Windows
extensions) on any platform. Compact and extensible, easy to install
and configure, Kaffe is the optimal choice for rapid cross-platform
development.
Kaffe is a completely independent PersonalJava 3.0 implementation,
designed to the PersonalJava 1.1.1 specification. In addition to the
Java Virtual Machine, Kaffe also includes classes that handle
graphics, file management, input/output, and networking. An
OpenSource version is available for desktop computers.
"
Among the platforms listed supported is DOS.
There is no precompiled binaries , but source code for several platforms
is available for download (about 4MB)
