Hi Folks,
I find that I am now getting lost clusters with some regularity.
System: 486, 133 MHz, 32 Mb RAM, MS-DOS 6.20 running Arachne 1.66, low
memory (at boot) 580 kb, (Arachne loaded) = 105 kb.
The cause ? It is very clearly linked to aborted email uploads
- each lost cluster starts with the SMPT log info + the email that
doesn't go, plus sundry isolated URLs. Sound familiar ? (Hi, L.D.)
The real cause ? All, repeat ALL, that has changed is that my
ISP has updated his server software - it is now a RedHat species. He was
obliged to do that because he had an open relay on the old server. Now I
find that about 3 out of every 4 email upload attempts fails with
Arachne. I am having to revert back to BareBones to send most of my
email through my main ISP.
Does this give any hint to our gurus ? What is it that
BareBones does that Arachne doesn't ? And can it be fixed so that email
ALWAYS goes and maybe the lost clusters problem is eliminated.
Regards,
Ron
PS: Even this one got stalled on my first attempt to send.
