Hello Ron, Michael;
I think this bug is complicated.
I, also, tested with Arachne sending and receiving to myself.
With A1.62 the de-tached .zip was 1 byte oversize. (spelling police ?)
With A1.66 the de-tached .zip (300k) was more than 100k oversize.
That was sending AND RECEIVING with Arachne.
Today I sent a smaller .zip (15483 bytes) to myself at the office.
The file sent with Arachne 1.62 and recovered with NS2.2 was 15483 bytes.
The file sent with Arachne 1.66 and recovered with NS2.2 was 15483 bytes.
No extra bytes. Not even ONE extra byte.
There DEFINITELY is a problem. As Ron said, if you de-attach the file
from your OUTBOX, (with Arachne) the file is already 1 byte too long.
I think that extra byte is introduced by the Arachne RECOVERY process.
That's why the file comes out the right length with Netscape.
The multiple extra bytes are a different problem because Ron has been trying
to send me that 40Kb file for some time and it always arrives here (Netscape)
as 52-57kb. Maybe the problem is due to a combination of Arachne 1.66 and
line errors ?
