What is "Itanium"? Is this the new 64-bit chip from intel?
Is there a problem with it and DOS?
Personally I believe that unless DOS keeps being developed, so it
can be adapted to new hardware (and be able to control its
new abilities), it wouldnt survive long. This is why its good to have
things like FreeDOS, PTS-DOS, and sort, that keep the development
alive.

Problem running DOS under Itanium (new 64-bit chip from Intel) might be because
of DOS being basically 16-bit. I wonder if Itanium or AMD Sledgehammer will
preserve the distinction between real and protected mode, and between
conventional and extended memory. FreeDOS seems concerned about maintaining
compatibility with 286s and XTs, which limits its future prospects. Has anybody
accessed the Internet from FreeDOS?
