Having to make airline reservations forced me to get IE running under W98 on my laptop. The obvious difference in speed between Arachne connecting to my default home page (Yahoo.com) and IE connecting to the same default home page made me put a stop watch on the times to have Yahoo come up from the time the programs were commanded to dial. Same ISP was used, same phone line. Arachne running on a P75/40MB ram under DOS 6.22, with an internal 38.8 modem. IE running on a AMD 300MHz/32MB ram laptop under W98 with a PCMCIA V.90 56K modem card. Arachne: 46 sec (with cache cleared) IE4 1m 51 sec (with cache not cleared) Roger Turk Tucson, Arizona USA
