Absolutely.
I always set the "esc" key to do nothing in preferences, and all novices
get the firm warning from me "dont touch the backspace key, even when
you think you are in a text field" - something might be still changing.

I might be kidding myself, but control-leftarrow seems a more reliable
way of going back.
