Hi Neil, Many HP Pavillion PCs use a 'Riptide' (HP/Rockwell/Conexant) combination sound/modem card that ships with 'TurboComm ViP' from Pacific CommWare http://www.turbocom.com . TurboComm ViP provides support for DOS programs to use your modem when you're using a DOS command prompt from within Win 9x. In Win98 try Start=>Settings=>Control Panel=>System=>/Device Manager\ then select your modem and in the Properties if there is a /DOS Support\ tab check the [x] Enable DOS support box, then restart the PC and see if thta helps. =========== << neil tanner: I am new to Arachne and have loaded it into my Pc. I am using it offline at the moment because I can't get it to recognize my modem....I am using a HP 6535 standard PC and am using w98. Is it not seeing the modem because of a conflict??>> Bob Buckland ?:-)
