I have only tried this with a 14k modem, but all modems connecting to a
serial port should work fine - *EXCEPT* for possibly the USB modems
available - I would also avoid these as you may not have USB support
available for your DOS sessions (never seen a tool to do it) and I would
expect them to require some sort of driver under windows.

I have the impression that an ISA slot modem will usually be a 'real' modem,
 and a PCI one has a high chance of being a winmodem.

In an online world without walls, who needs Gates and Windows?
