I agree - nice to have the option tho it can get a little out of hand - I
always worry that my L*x box is a little exposed when connected to the
internet - never quite sure if I have got *all* the settings secure enough
to prevent my machine being browsed from the internet. With win95, I'm
certain that the bloody thing is wide open.

The Mandrake distribution of Linux is based on RedHat, but it is a version
optimised for pentium class machines - all the binaries are compiled for
i586 (Rehdat and SuSE, AFAIK at version 5.2 were still compiled for i386
instruction set).
Thats one big reason why I upgraded from a 486 to a celeron 400. Plus, the
streaming media performance - RealPlayer & Media player - now soaks only 15%
of the processor resources, instead of near 90% on a 486/100. Nice.

In an online world without walls, who needs Gates and Windows?
