I have tried this page with A1.62 and A1.66 and get the same effect.
This has happened to me before, and others have reported a sudden slow
down in Arachne.
Arachne spontaneously switches xSwap from XMS to disk - easily noticed
by a sudden increase in disk activity and an incredible slowdown.
Also, the altM popup shows Used XMS went from ~588Kb to 8723645989184Kb
(or so).

Select Member Services. (left side)
Select the "count visitors" link. Try to get info about placing
a counter on a web page and scroll up/down a bit.
Check your XMS usage and report any bogus numbers please.
I was using MSDOS 6.2, P90 with 16mb ram and 1024kb smartdrv.
Display was 640x480 both 16 and 256 colors tried. Virtual screens 1000.
