Dear list,

is this of any interest to you?
It is not so much about bugs and programming, but form a "friend
user" point of view

But this is an exe file. And lay people like me are not able to look
into or to change it. Why do I want to customize Arachne's directory
listing? Mainly two reasons:

1. There is this unfortunate link which is supposed to list the DOS
drive letters. I think it works well on DR-DOS. But my system (MS-DOS
7.10 / W98) immediately crashes, if I come too close to the link.

2. Time and again I save some HTML pages on my hard disk. Because I
work a lot with Norton Commander I decided to sort them according to
topics in a 8.3 directory structure. I am able to imagine meaningful
directory names, but the names of the files are too short to make
clear what is where. Arachne example files indicate the possibility
to write a GUI for local file searching. I had another idea: I would
be quite satisfied if the directory listing in Arachne could not only
list the file names, but also the text in the <Title>XXXXXXX</Title>
tag of each file. For this purpose I wrote a small utility in BASIC
(the only language I know). My "dir2htm.exe" can be called as a DGI
from Arachne. But I did not suceed to make that thing recursive
(obviously TurboBasic programmes do not produce standard output, but
I really do not know). The full function of the tool should be:

a) call dgi by function key (eg. Shift F2)
b) output is directory.ah that contains
- links to all htm files of the HD directory (terminate)
- and buttons which call dgi again with an argument for
subdirectories or upper directory (repeat a)

This is probably not exactly what you wrote. But I would be glad,
if I could play a bit with your programme.

Please send it to me, do not upload it, because tonight I am going
to leave for a week.
