1.67 stable for DOS
----

Release date: 23th October 2000
Bug fixes: Cookie support was changed to be more RFC-compliant; result
is, that Arachne can access mail.yahoo.com without problems.
Small layout, grammar and syntax bugs in documentation.
Multiple e-mail recipients can be specified again, and
addresses in To: and CC: fields can be separated either
by ",", ";", "+" or ":" (it should be enough for everyone ;)
PPP connection will work even if AltNameServer (2nd DNS)
is not specified (no "namsrv (null)" in PPPDRC.CFG)
PPPDRC.CFG will be created even for "Connection @LH EPPPD.EXE"
which should help some Arachne users to get more DOS memory.
Bug in passing query strings to DGI apps.
Bug which was causing freezing when highlighting strings
found in lines longer then 1024 characters.
FTP upload bug was (probably) fixed (not verified, because
I haven't experienced this bug myself, but I removed
possible premature call to sock_abort() from FTP code).
Changes: Arachne now doesn't use %TEMP% directory directly - it
rather creates %TEMP%\ARACHNE.TMP subdirectory. This fixes
problem with default setting of TEMP to be C:\DOS in MS-DOS
version 5.0. For speed optimization, try to define ARACHNETEMP
variable: eg. SET ARACHNETEMP=%TEMP% in your AUTOEXEC.BAT.
Default MIME type for hyperlinks and user entered URLs
is now text/html, and default MIME type for inline images
is image/gif. It used to be undefined (text/plain), which
resulted in improperly labeled HTML pages being displayed
only as source code. Current behaviour is Netscape compliant.
Improvements: · entity (interpreted as )
              Script system\pktdrvrs\ifconfig.bat
Latest versions of DJPEG32 and PNG2BMP were included, thanks
to effort ot Bernie from Sweden (bernie.arachne.cz).
Experimental: Proxy authentication support: This was not tested yet -
please send me e-mail if it works for you (which would be
surprising). I don't know which RFC number describes Proxy
authentication, so I was just guessing from one .htt file
which I received from one user behind authenticated proxy.
Try to add 2 new variables to ARACHNE.CFG: ProxyUsername and
ProxyPassword, and Arachne should be able to automagicaly
access HTTP (and perhaps also FTP) proxy. If it works, I am
going to add corresponging input fields to Internet options
setup screen. Please let me know RFC number which describes
Proxy authentication, if you know it.

1.66 stable for DOS, beta for Linux/SVGAlib and Linux/GGI
----

Release date: 20th July 2000
Bug fixes: Serious security hole in both DOS and Linux version was fixed.
Detailed description of this hole won't be published until all
Arachne users upgrade to version 1.66 or later.
COM port documentation error on Arachne setup screens.
clear-cache.dgi in DOS version was working only in DR-DOS only.
Configuration wizard was experiencing serious troubles when
TEMP directory setting was invalid. The same problem was with
Insight mail manager - the problem should be fixed now. Insight
is now going to use the TEMP setting only if Cache2TEMP us Yes.
One inch is now guaranteed to be 2.54 milimeters ;-)
Improvements: Even if <NOBR>, <PRE> or <TABLE> sections exceed default right
edge of document, rest of page is still formated to original
width of page, which should make lot of pages more readable.
This was added only to DOS version so far, thanks to delay
of 1.66 stable for DOS. It fixed eg. oversized www.yahoo.com
Note: 1.65 beta for Linux was skipped because of known bugs
