I use procmail along with a pretty good starting "cookbook" that I
got from http://alcor.concordia.ca/topics/email/auto/procmail/. Some
of the recipes were a bit strict, so I had to disable one or two
filters, but most are quite effective. Any time I get spammed, I just
insert another recipe (simple regexp) to prevent it from getting
through again. In addition, procmail works as an autoresponder to send
a message back to the sender... or into the darkness of a /dev/null
somewhere if it's a fake address.

I use it on my own Linux machine, but procmail will exist on most any
'nix machine, so if your ISP allows you access via a shell account, you
can use all the procmail stuff there.
