Thank you, Clarence,

for your extremely inspiring re-grade methods published on the
Arachne homepage. I think something similar to your GETnLOAD.ZIP
package should be part of the arachne.exe main file. It concerns
almost everybody who wants to upgrade to a new version and does not
like to loose his customized files.

Unfortunately I, although terribly needing it, cannot use your
utility. The reason is (as you guessed already): I have customized
Arachne TOO much. Indeed time and archive bit do not provide a
sufficient criterium for replacing files.

An example: Some time ago, I started to change saveas.ah, print.ah
and textedit.ah according to my hardware configuration and
special needs (convert codepages etc). Now, I am more or less
satisfied with the result and definitely do not want these files be
overwritten by a minor change in the Arachne distribution.

Or the other way around: As I am trying to learn the secrets of DGI I
change the mime.cfg almost every day. So it is probable that mime.cfg
in a new Arachne distribution will not overwrite my customizations.
But what if it just contains a deadly important change by Michael?

So I am afraid that I have to continue re-grading file by file
(and in mime.cfg even line by line) with every new distribution...

PS: Just another idea: what about using the read-only attribute to
mark those files you do not want to be overwritten?
