Dear Neil,
1. If you want to define hotkeys in Arachne, this is possible - to a
certain degree. Besides the hotkeys defined by the program (press K
to view them) you can define the key combinations from SHIFT+F1 to
SHIFT+F10. You will find this in one of the setup pages. If you
hurry, just edit manually the file ARACHNE.CFG. It contains
these lines:
ShiftF1 file://doc/howto.htm
ShiftF2 file://oops\*.*
...
You can fill any URL address, file name, file mask or even function,
provided that Arachne understands the syntax.
2. If you just want to call a programme within Arachne:
- write the command line to a batch file
- rename it to NAME.OOK and move it to the OOPS subdirectory
- define your hotkey ShiftFN file://oops\NAME.OOK
3. It will be more difficult, if the programme you call is supposed
to do something with a page or another input from Arachne. Then you
will need to enter into the mysteries of DGI programming, manipulate
Arachne's GUI, edit MIME.CFG etc. May be it would have been better
for me, if I had not begun with this that time ... Anyway, if you
*really* need this, there are a lot of wise people on this list - but
I am not able to explain it to you, yet.
4. According to your problem: you can call the editor with method 2.
But then you have to load the file into the editor manually. If you
want to call the editor and at the same time pass the name of a
certain file to it, you need method 3. If it is only the present
page you want to edit, then you can find a ready prepared solution
on Arachne's download page.
