I thought I was possibly confused, but today had it confirmed. Something about the way InSight runs under 1.67 is really messing things up. Today I saw a message with a URL, I clicked on the URL and went to the site, then clicked the 'back arrow' ... only to receive a message that Arachne couldn't load the requested file. I went to the Index of Inbox, and the file wasn't there any more. I wanted to respond to the message, so went to Norton with the [weak, admittedly because of past experience] hope I might be able to unerase it. No such luck. The deleted mail that still had a chance -- according to Norton -- of being unerased was all trashed with Arachne.pck overwrites. i.e. the file still existed with just the 1st character of name blanked out so it should be retrievable, but 99.9% of said file had been contaminated and was worthless. They'd been downloaded yesterday anyway. The 3 files that could be found, which had been downloaded today, had the beginning of each file overwritten so I couldn't retrieve them. I frankly don't understand it. I have cache set to RAM again, so cache isn't overwritting files. I had fast-deleted about a half-dozen messages, I'd read & trash canned 2 or 3. The message I left was not in the trashcan, so it appears that it got "fast deleted." Not good. To the individual who thought the "natural herbal viagra" URL was too long ... nope. Arachne can handle URL lengths that extend past the URL field lenght with the tool bar at the top of the page; the problem is that so many asp & search URLs [particularly since some search engines no longer will point directly to the URLs found, but instead use internal addressing of some sort] are faaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrr longer than that same field. l.d. -- Join B'FOR - B'mothers For Open Records B'FOR web site [Associate members of triad also welcome; membership confidential.] Every member counts!
