You may want to take a look at BasicLinux, which has
a very simple .fetchmailrc. This should work with any
version of fetchmail. If you don't like BasicLinux's
processmail script, you can change the mda to whatever
you want. Even the following will work:

mda cat>>/var/spool/mail/$USER
