In InBox again, attempting to read mail. My son, the Linux user in California, sent me an attached file. Yes, it was HUGE! A photo he'd reworked into an "under construction" BMP file. Attempts to load the e-mail in 1.69 resulted each time [I tried 3 times, including after a reboot] in xSwap error line 548 HTMLSTAT.C and fatal error. I couldn't even get a glance at the e-mail itself, let alone the attachment. I exited twice and tried starting Arachne over; neither time was the err_lock.ah shown. The last attempt with 1.69, after a reboot, did produce the err_lock.ah screen, but didn't process e-mail message. At that time the numbers were RAM DOS will recognize 64Mb, 30Mb in RAMdisk, 4Mb set aside for cache. DOS 138, Used XMS 24,191, Free xSwap 1,648, Used xSwap 413, Disk space 98Mb, cache atoms 1 The failure was the same. I did an ALT-X and quit 1.69 I went back to 1.66, and first attempt allowed e-mail to load so I could read it, but graphic had not been processed. Clicking on the icon for the graphic, Arachne 1.66 eventually [after processing attachment] gave xSwap error line 224 URLOVRL.C ... but at least I was able to read the message and Arachne *had* converted the graphic and it *was* in place in TEMP directory. From that point I was able to save it after exiting Arachne. That's more than I could do with 1.69 <sigh> l.d. -- Arachne V1.69, NON-COMMERCIAL copy, http://arachne.cz/
