My main reason for _not_ keeping Netscape 2 for more than an evening
(sorry, Clarence).

I had a mail yesterday from Bardi implying that Opera Software will
pull their finger out and compile an updated Windows3.1x version if
there's sufficient interest. IE5 is available for Win3 for those with
the horsepower, but others might like to explore Opera's attractions.
The current version meets much JS it cannot handle, so Arachne could
overtake it in that respect :-) But in the meantime, Opera is in many
respects the best bet for low-resource Windows PCs.

I didn't find Opera's 30-day shareware evaluation long enough to
convince me of its merits (it's a buggy browser that people have
been prepared to pay for), but any new 16-bit version may be ad-
supported as well as paid-for. UK residents may join the ISP
Totalise.co.uk and get a free registration (might work for others,
too).

Back to the original topic... Opera allows you to disable tables,
and CSS (currently used to horribly bloat pages) and many other
"must have" features that can cause problems e.g. tables designed
too wide for a 640x480 screen.

Arachne is faster and more crash-proof on heavy graphics pages.
Try Netscape3 if you like slow-motion aniGIFs, or a 1-hour browsing
limit with a compressed hard drive.
