Most likely it is related to the screen output since there's no
"COMx-part" in core.exe (it's being set up by miniterm and epppd).
Hopefully lsppp should make it a bit easier, especially since it doesn't
allow (IIRC) the UART to buffer anything. This actually improves
Arachnes speed for some people, unfortunatly you can't set it in any eays
way with the current configuration - epppd 0.7 was supposed to be able to
handle it but I've dropped the project since lsppp seemed so much better
(and a lack of time form my part).
