I don't know about egroups anymore (although IIRC if the mail is in
html format, you'll get a lovely image for advertising, instead of the
simple text link)
The mailing List company I now use for a group of friends is VP
Mail (www.list.to). Any lines with #>- and -<# in it are left out.
(These lines are appended containing a link to personal options) It
could be something like that?
