Dear L.D. and all:
I started the new year with a new computer and newer Arachne.
I like the newer versions but wonder about those who can't necessarily
move up to Pentiums, etc. I could just as well bought mine at the local
Goodwill, I do enough shopping there.
As for Internet radio, I think that the system requirements are
just unworkable with less than 20MB of Ram and the necessary buffering.
I have not studied this in detail like Ron on the list or others, but
stuff like this seem to be causing people with even higher end machines
like Thomas Mueller a lot of problems. Linux seems like the best
upgrade for me for now, I just need to find the time to do it.
News of the Quickview Player seems interesting though. Perhaps it
would be possible to play shorter music {3 minutes?} with a Linux driver
setup. Will this work with a build like BasicLinux? I mainly don't
want to take time to download and install stuff I have good reason to
believe will not work for me. My sister is used to the Winx stuff but
I don't think she understands the dif between one file format and
another. I think maybe, later, she will want to setup her own computer
at her place. This is specific to my system.
Yours,
"tomstfor"
