Glimmers of comprehension are occurring......
The reason Arachne is failing me is that its video is running in 256
colour mode, even when displaying a 16 colour image. Thus it runs out of
memory and crops the image.
I was misdirected from this fact by windows......I have a 256 colour,
800x600 display set, but it is actually only doing 16 colour, something
not obvious to me as I have been working with 16 colour files. When I
loaded up a 256 colour image the defect was obvious! The self reporting
of Windows is woeful; something I probably need not dwell on.
I was also misdirected by Windows bombing at first through not having
enough virtual memory allocated, even though there was heaps of RAM.
(That was windows 3.1)
The SVGA driver I have in GWSDOS is certainly 800x600, but makes no
mention of colour which the same test proves to be 16.
