I have found it is more complicated that this. I tried putting my big
.gif in portrait orientation and found that ver 1.67 suceeded and 1.62 failed!
Also the form of the file seems important - as a BMP the display is
trashed. I found it very confusing having to keep emptying cache and
TEMP top make sure the version I was using really did the converting!
Further complications happened when one version grabbed the TEMP files
created by another version of Arachne.
