I have the same problem.
1)-When I finish using arachne, any version using miniterm, if I try
to use again my modem, I have to reset my 586 with a cold boot.
2)-I have the same problem with LSPPP.
3)-This does not happen when I dial with NetDial by Mark Ressl (he
lives by my house, but studies in Buenos Aires)
It seems that some dialers (when they hung) leave some line high or
low, but I cannot discover how to reset the modem correctly.
