AHA !!
Here is the missing piece:
Ron, the problem as I stated *IS* present in A1.66 as well as A1.70.
I just loaded 4 dummy files in the download subdirs of 4 Arachne
versions. They all behaved EXACTLY the same. They would NOT quick delete
any file in their own download subdir when it was marked by shift-enter.
I'll leave it to others to say what happens with a mouse.
They WOULD, however, happily delete files in any OTHER arachne\download
subdir, and here is why:
If you start, as I did, by F3 "file:dummy*.*" and then navigate to
download, the URL slot says: "file:download\dummy*.*" - and it won't
work. Navigate by the same method to c:\arachne\download and the
URL slot says: "file:c:\arachne\download\dummy*.*" and it WILL work.
Also, if in the previous case, one was to hit "G" and edit the URL
window to have the full path name, THEN A1.70 and all the others WILL
permanently delete anything you want.
Remember, we're not talking about mouse actions here.
I believe Glenn found that the mouse action was different, and for
this last test he must have had full paths specified.
We still don't know why the mouse should be different. :-((
