Ahhh. Those WERE good old days. Back before Windows. Back when the OS was
written in 100% ASM. Back when 640k *WAS* enough. Back before a torrent of
crap written in "C" hit the shelves. Back before some twits decided that
the most successful and copied computer every made should be run like the
SECOND most successful (but not copied) computer.
I've been here before.
Why do you have a 233Mhz computer with 128kb ram ?
Because of the "C" programming language.
Why is it STILL not fast enough ?
Because of the "C" programming language.
Anyone that says otherwise is a "C" programmer. <G>
We CAN take advantage of the technological advances forced upon the computer
hardware industry by all those horrendously bulky and slow programs tho.
But we have to have some self control and self respect.
We must re-format our hard disks to remove all traces of that abomination
that steals your money, steals your time, steals your soul - Windows.
We must convince ourselves that we want INFORMATION from the internet, not
just pretty pictures, so we can use a TEXT based browser, possibly with an
optional image download and display capability.
Then you can REMOVE 96k of your 128k ram and STILL have 24k more than you
need, and find a smaller HD to hold the trivial amount of data you REALLY
need. And then the bootup time will be so fast you won't be able to stand
up let alone go for coffee. <g>
And the time saved online by using a text based browser ? Would you believe
nine minutes saved for every one online ? What if EVERYONE used text ?
What a bandwidth bonanza ! I know, no chance. :((
How much are the last minutes of our lives worth ?
Think about it...
