Yes, Glenn, this used to be so. But with 1.70rev3 I am not able to
recognize any difference between high lsppp and low epppd. I would
appreciate any speed improvements, because I am surfing on a PC386
with Arachne on RAMdisk and 56kbs modem on telephone line. May be my
bottleneck is the obviously overcharged free IPS. Or Arachne has
reached such a degree of maturity that she is less interested in
memory, now. It certainly will become critical again with the JS
support.
Another problem I met with lsppp: I used to login through two Czech
servers (quick.cz and volny.cz). Both are free, but login procedures
are a bit different, and both have been doing a lot of SW upgrading
and changing during the last year. So I am always prepared for the
situation that one day the server will not work and I have to try
the other one or set up the connection differently. Now, in
combination with EPPPD Arachne works fine with both of them. But
LSPPP cannot get through with quick.cz. It displays:
Dialing...Connecting to network...Authenticating...
Just at the time when I expect to appear the message
Negotiating IP linkage...
it hangs up the phone instead. Is there any way to get further?
Or do I just have to accept that the server does not like lsppp's
way of authentication?
