No, I don't think that is the first step, because, as you point out, a lot
of servers send EVERYTHING as text/plain. :((
I have asked Michael to consider allowing the extension to take priority
over mime type so we can get around these server problems in many areas.
His response was, "that's the way the other browsers do it but it is
improper use of the standards".

Is the rest of your document proof that you HAVE made the necessary plugin ?

Why do you do this ? To get the download mimetype right ?
It would make the normal downloading of .ZIPs awkward wouldn't it ?
How about putting in a check to see if the ZIP contains a BMP and going
to the Saveas page if it doesn't ?
Anyway, I would prefer to keep the correct extension and operate on that
basis instead of mimetype if possible. ;-)
