* Accessing NTFS Volumes/Partitions from DOS

It can be done! SysInternals, a pioneer in software tools for the
Windows NT platform for over 6 years, has these must-have utilities
for Windows NT and 2000 users.

If you have a multi-boot desktop with Windows 98 and Windows NT/2K
installed and also happen to have Windows NT installed with a NTFS
partition (or have a volume formatted on NTFS), you just might need
to access your NTFS files from MS-DOS. Unfortunately, Microsoft
doesn't provide a solution for this scenario.

SysInternals, to the rescue. Their NTFSDOS utility, lets you access
NTFS volumes from MS-DOS. And a freeware edition is available that
lets you read NTFS volumes without the ability to write files to an
NTFS volume. If your PC also has a FAT or FAT32 volume, you can copy
files from NTFS volumes to both FAT and FAT32 partitions. But in
order to write from FAT, FAT32 to NTFS volumes/partitions, you'll
have to purchase the full commercial version of NTFSDOS Professional
for $199 directly from SysInternals.com.

To download the freeware version of NTFSDOS from SysInternals, go here.
http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/freeware/NTFSDOS.shtml

Once downloaded, you'll still need a bootable floppy disk created
using Windows 98, 98SE, Me, or DOS. You'll have to copy the
NTFSDOS.EXE utility to the same disk. To enhance the commands you can
use with NTFSDOS, you should also add Xcopy, Doskey and Format for
added utility.

Before using your new bootable floppy, you should also c
DOS commands, you'll be able to access NTFS folders and files.
