I think if you read some of douglas adams' work you'd be ROFL!

try this - "here i am, brain the size of a planet and all they do is ask me
to open doors for them" - hmm perhaps I don't remember it too well, and
paraphrase it, but it has had a measureable impact on society -

ever heard of babel fish? spin off of altavista? it's a unversal translator
(some hope) between english/spanish/french/.... with hilarious results.

Anyway, that's where it got it's name - the babel fish in hitchhikers was a
small fish which you inserted into your ear and which fed off your brain
waves. As a by product, it excreted raw psychic waves into the brain of the
wearer, which by a stunning coincidence had the effect of translating any
spoken language into that of the host. It was accompanied (at least in the
tv series) with a (then) stunning animation showing the humorous results of
mis-hearing,before rambling off into another plot altogether. (Much like my
brain!)

=I've heard of it. (have not read it)

=Not to be picky... but how can one have a "four book trilogy". ;-)
