Hello:

Don't dare ask such a question to the officials who operate my online
banking service. They will laugh at you and tell you that the answer is
simply no. I know for a fact that they are wrong because I successfully
accessed their https logon site and logged on with Lynx386 (DOS version).
I was unable to do any online banking activities there because of all the
javasnit. So then I thought I would just crank up my WIN95 machine and use
MSIE 3.02. I couldn't even access the logon screen because of some stupid
messages returned by MSIE saying that the security certificates were not
valid. Then I called the technical support people who operate the online
banking service and I told them about my problem. They said that I couldn't
log on to my online banking site because their system uses 128 bit
encryption and that the only program out there that can deal with it
is Internet Explorer 5.5. I asked them if I could simply download a patch
or a plugin to update the listing of the security certificate validation
authorities. They said no. I asked them if there were a patch or a plugin
available that could be interfaced somehow with MSIE 3.02 so that I could
deal with the new 128 bit encrytion. The answer was no. Now I want to
know why I would need MSIE 5.5 just to perform a simple routine that any
old DOS 386 can easily handle by running a program small enough to fit on a
single floppy. The correct answer of course is that Bill Gates is trying
to pull the wool over the eyes of the ignorant consumers. Almost everyone
on this list knows that MSIE 5.5 is probably one of the most ravaging
devourer of computer resources out there. I certainly don't want to
install anything on my 100 Mhz dozeware Pentium that will make it run any
slower than it already does.

Can anyone here help me with discovering some more correct answers?
Somewhere there ought to be a small dozeware utility to deal with my
problem. One thing that would really be cool would be a setup where
I could log on with Lynx386 and then quickly switch over to MSIE 3.02 after
the logon was accomplished. I don't know if it would be possible to do
that. Does anyone here know if you can run a DOS internet app while
connected via of a dialup winsock connection?

Please help.
