I'm really surprised and pleased to see a youngish person echo my sentiments
on this matter. 
There usually ARE alternatives. I have several financial institutions trying
to force HTTPS down my throat, and I simply barf it back up and tell them I'm
going elsewhere.

Whether I actually do go elsewhere is irrelevant.<G>
But I certainly get by without a secure connection.
