And by the way--I heard on the radio recently that the United States
has not had a confirmed case of Hoof and Mouth disease since 1929.

As I've related previously, we have had trouble with animal feed
being contaminated by industrial chemicals and here in my home
state of Michigan this resulted in the slaughter of many dairy
herds.

But, for the most part, Americans have been extremely lucky and
have a tendancy to just not know how lucky we've been.
