As best I can remember, AOL email will send files to other email services as
RFC attachments. IIRC, this only signifies it conforms to RFC standards.
Just save the file as a plain text file...in Arachne press F2, then either
"view as plain text" or save as plain text. AOL always has been a bit
different from other email services...I should know, I've been on AOL for
some 5 years now, hehe! Another quirk with AOL is hyperlinks embedded in
received emails...most only show up as the web site address or whatever.
Something with the style of "quoting" that AOL uses...just another reason I
call it AOHell!
Hope this clears you up a bit and not muddy everything!

I notice, from the receiving end, AOL 6 makes it very difficult to send one-part
plain-text email messages. If you're with a regular ISP and don't like the
email software you're using, you can switch. With AOL, you're stuck in hell!
In August 1997 with CompuServe, I could no longer send Internet email except as
a reply to an Internet email message. One customer service area seemed aware of
the problem, while another customer service area denied the problem. There were
also problems sending messages in some forums, and whenever a remote server was
not accessible, I was "timed out waiting for a response" followed by disconnect.
So August 1997 was my last month with CompuServe, and I stay away from
proprietary services like AOL and Prodigy as well, and I believe MSN too is a
proprietary service that can't be accessed with regular Internet protocols.
