Well, I recently built a dual Celeron466/Abit BP6 server, and managed to finagle a
copy of WSeB about a year ago at an OS/2 Tech event. The system has Boot
Manager on it -- necessary to install OS/2, but I use the Linux loader to control
which OS
starts.
They are very different beasts. The OS/2 Workplace Shell is a much more elegant
and robust solution than Linux at this point, & while I'm only using the box to play
with
internet stuff, OS/2 scales with networking *much* better than LInux, and threads
better
as well. It should though, its expensive.
What I really like about Linux is the manner in which html is really 'built in' to the
operating system. With a dsl connection, the internet and documentation (html) are
really seamlessly built into the operating system. A click and you're there, whether
its a
url or a document.
The common point between the two operating systems is that the EMX runtime system
for OS/2 allows porting of open source, and Linux has been a real boon to OS/2 users
wanting the latest device drivers for stuff, not to mention Ghostscript, SANE, GIMP
and a
host of other goodies.
Hope this helps,
