I find the use of individual font descriptions for each size odd, but maybe
there was a reason at one time.

Possibly it was considered faster to just look it up when required instead
of generating the required size from a single pattern of adequate detail.  
Possibly it also helps to manually edit out the resizing defects that could 
result from a simple re-sizing subroutine.

But then again, everyone else seems to be able to do it, and I think I could
write a fast resizing routine that produced acceptable characters at a much
bigger range of font sizes than we have now. It would just be a matter of
running the routine once every time a new size was encountered, and caching
the results in TEMP as Arachne does anyway.

With such a routine the size of Arachne would actually reduce a lot because
those fonts take a great deal of space.  It would also be quite possible to 
give users the option of either maintaining or scaling fonts when the screen
resolution changes. <G>
