Huh??? How much text? Megabytes at one time?
I cut'n'paste to and from Netscape ALL THE TIME, and NEVER crash!
From xterms to Netscape 3.04 & Netscape 4.76 and back again.
From xclipboard to and from both NS's and back again.
From e-mails in pine to URL window in both NS's.
I hardly ever use Star Office, but just now, I typed something
in a SO text document, copied from there and pasted that text
into a NS 3.04 e-mail.
I rarely use Acroreader either, but just now I opened a pdf
file in Acroreader 4.0, and copied text from there, and pasted
it into NS 3.04 e-mail.
I also hardly ever use Word Perfect 8, but just now, I copied
a URL from a WP document and pasted it into the URL window of
Netscape 4.76.
I think you must have a "bad" version of Netscape, Bernie.
I had 4.77 installed for a while, but it was buggy, so I went
back to 4.76. Even so, I normally use 3.04 for both browsing
and e-mail, and only use 4.76 when I must.
I also occasionally use Mozilla 0.7, which also seems quite
stable on my machine... and yes, I cut'n'paste to and from that
without problem too.
Perhaps I misunderstand what it is you're trying to do?

Philosophy
I believe that different types of web pages warrant different
treatments. A strictly informative page should
be very clean and easy to read, while an artist's page should incorporate
more graphics and color.
